Hi all,
sorry about the 2 posts that got messed up, thought I was in forms mode, but I wasn't. Anyway, microsoft encarta isn't exactly what I thought it was. I thought it was an encyclopaedia you could use off line, but when I entered on it, I got the usual dialogue you get when you go to a web page that's not available, the page can not be displayed, blah blah etc. Do you have to be online to use encarta standard? if so, well heck, in that case, I might as well stick with wikipedia. And about the inter win dvd player, will it play dvd movies, like the movies that would play on a portable dvd player, or do you have to be on the internet and find movies on the net? thanks,

Encarta is available online but i think it's available on cdrom for offline use but the online one doesn't show all the information anyway only part of it. Only premium members can have full access. Probaply you are right wikipedia is better.
I am not sure but probaply win dvd plays the normal dvds you can play on a dvd player but i don't know how accessible it is.
Yeah that'l play dvd's that you put into a portable player/dvd player hooked up to your tv etc etc.
Just as long as your computer has a dvd drive, it shood do, just put one in and try, it won't do any harm.

thanks Ben, but is it accessible with jaws? I mean I don't want to do anything fancy with it, just curious to see if it will play some of these dvd movies I have. It might play, but what if jaws can't find the stop button or there aren't any short cut keys? if it can play them, that would be an added bonus, because this computer has good internal speakers, but if I can't, it's not really too much of an issue, I do have my portable dvd player. The volume on some of the movies leaves a little bit to be desired, but it's really a neat little player to be as small as it is.

guess what? I found out windows media player 10 will play dvds. I sort of wish it didn't start immediately, because I'd like to be able to click on where it says cd/dvd, or whatever it says, especially if the dvd has a double feature, but I was pleasantly surprised when it started playing. I don't know if interwin dvd player has any advantages over windows media player.
